## About

ERE Inc. stocks hand-operated **soil augers** for environmental site assessments, geotechnical investigations, and routine soil sampling. Every **soil sampling auger** we carry is built by **AMS**, and the line covers each common boring condition — so you can match the auger head to the soil instead of forcing one tool through everything.

## Soil auger types — pick by soil condition

Auger performance is governed by soil type. The wrong head clogs, refuses, or loses the sample; the right one cuts clean and brings material up intact. Use this to choose:
- **Regular augers** — the general-purpose head for loamy, medium-cohesive soils. See the [AMS Regular Soil Auger](/products/regular-augers), the default head for the bulk of most soil profiles.
- **Sand augers** — closed-tip design that retains dry, loose, granular material. See [AMS Sand Augers](/products/sand-augers).

## Choosing the right soil auger

Most field programs carry two or three heads — a regular auger for the bulk of the profile, plus a sand or mud auger for the layers that misbehave.
